Winter is for planning
We have to start with a little back story first. Shauna and I (Adam) started dating and after some time I took her to meet my Mom, on the way I ask her what she thought of the area her reply was "its to far away from town". Skip ahead a few years, its now 2011 and I was working as an electrician. My mom calls to let me know the farm down the road was going to be sold, so I asked her to get the info. I'm sure you can imagine my apprehension of talking to Shauna about this as I already know "its to far out" but this is my dream. So after some discussion, a few arguments and a lot of persuasion we bought the farm.
Now the struggle begins of remodeling and making this house ours which for almost 2 years went pretty smooth. If you know anything about remodeling and marriage these 2 things normally don't go well together but we did exceptionally well and overcame! Did I mention I was the contractor for everything? As well as three boys at home you can imagine the chaotic mess that was us and after almost two years we moved into our farm.
Now here we are years down the road and after Shauna's graduated college we decided it wasn't worth it to pay daycare. I would be Mr. Mom while Shauna went to .work. I'm not one to sit around so I increased the size of our garden, all was well the first few years of growing on the farm. When you love what you do it tends to flourish, almost on its own. That's when I received a phone call from a friend asking if I would like to sell some of my produce at the farmers market. I thought why not, it could be good for the boys to get engaged in the farm operations. Now after several years of growing great produce we were involved in the farmers market, and it only took us a few times of selling to our local community to know this is what we were meant to do.
Now here we are, January 2021 and it seems like the world off the farm is a hot mess. That is one of the reasons we are expanding. We want people to have access to healthy food. Cooking and food has always been a way for us to comfort friends and family. Its kind of nice for us to think that the stuff we grow could be providing comfort to other families too, especially now when we could all use some extra.
